Anne Sandefur, JD, EdM, LMHC

I am a licensed mental health counselor in the states of New York, New Jersey, and Florida (telehealth). A former professional ballet dancer, I have shifted my passion and dedication to the field of mental health counseling. I hold a B.A. in Psychology from Duke University, a J.D. from Charleston School of Law, and an M.A. and Ed.M. in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University. It was during my time mediating civil conflicts that I decided to move into the field of mental health counseling to garner a stronger and longer-term relationship with my clients.

I seek to create a collaborative, warm, and engaging therapeutic environment as a means of providing a safe space to explore and bring about meaningful change in my clients' lives. My approach is proactive, goal-oriented, and eclectic, pulling from cognitive behavioral, trauma-informed, multiculturally competent, and strength-based methods as a means of tailoring treatment to your needs. I am certified in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) and as a Clinical Trauma Professional.

I have experience working with clients navigating a range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-worth, relationship issues, health/fertility concerns, identity development, sex/intimacy concerns, and career/life transitions.

I have also led mental health workshops at ballet schools and dance training programs.
